Why sea container prices fluctuate in Perth and WA
Most people assume a sea container has a “set price”. In reality, Sea Container prices in Perth often fluctuate because the supply chain behind them moves up and down.
One big reason for this is where containers are made. A 2022 U.S. Federal Maritime Commission report found over 95% of the world’s Sea Container inventory is manufactured in China, which means global production and shipping conditions can impact local availability and pricing in WA.
On top of that, Perth has its own pricing pressure points:

Add extra height with high cube containers
High Cube Sea Containers are the same as standard units, just with about an extra foot of height. That extra headroom is handy for bulky storage and conversions like workshops or offices.
Sea Containers for hire prices list
Should I hire or buy a sea container?
Customers in Perth and WA who only need a sea container for 3–6 months are usually better off hiring, as it’s the more affordable option. Buying a sea container is better suited to long-term storage and gives you more flexibility in how you use or modify the container.

How much does it cost to deliver a sea container from perth?
Perth Containers delivers sea containers across Perth metro (within roughly 30km of our Bibra Lake depot) starting from around $410 + GST. If you’re outside metro Perth, regional WA delivery is usually charged per kilometre from the nearest depot, starting from $4.50 per km + GST.
Because every site’s different, your final delivery cost also depends on the truck type needed (tilt tray, side loader, Hiab, or super tilt) and access on site. For longer runs, we use trusted WA transport partners and rail where it makes sense, each with their own rates.
